(Q) What is PPPoE?
(A) Point-to-Point Protocol over Ethernet. This is a new method for bridging and routing large numbers of people to the internet using broadband connections. It is NOT an official Internet standard.

(Q) Help, I cant access certain web sites, but others seem to work fine.
(A) You may have an MTU setting problem. Windows defaults to 1500 but that size is often incompatible with PPPoE. You should set your MTU size to 1400-1492.

(Q) When I start my computer, it seems to hang for a very long time.
(A) With PPPoE, this is often a DHCP timeout problem. Try setting your IP address to a private address like 192.168.10.1 or 10.0.10.1 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0.

(A) Upgrade to IE 5.5 or install IE 5 service pack 1 from here |
