www.homenethelp.comHave you been looking for a good Windows based FTP client? Having trouble with your current FTP client? Internet Neighborhood 4.5 from Deerfield might be the solution.
Internet Neighborhood (IN) 4.5 is a feature rich FTP client that integrates into your Windows explorer and won’t break your bank account.  It hails from a long line of FTP client software from Deerfield.com. Once loaded, IN 4.5 allows you to explore FTP sites as easy as you would explore a local hard drive.
Claim to Fame
IN is packed with features. It sports a resume feature that recovers from broken transfers, S/Key Password Encryption, directory caching for great performace, and more. The Professional version adds some cool features that like a transfer scheduler, FTP drive mapping, and a File Find.
Great for the beginner too!
Although IN has a huge number of features, Deerfield has tooled this program to be very friendly to beginner users. Primary to its beginner experience is an FTP site wizard helps set up new FTP sites. The same directory maintenance and file copy knowledge users gained Windows is directly applicable to the use of IN because of the seamless Windows Explorer integration.
My Experience with IN
I have worked with many FTP clients that have Windows Explorer integration and IN provided the best experience to date. Because of the nature of FTP, a simple directory listing or server log-in might take some time on a busy server. If felt that IN tried to keep me informed of its current status when communication to FTP servers slowed or broke down. Since IN is multi-threaded, the Windows file explorer did not suffer the ‘freezing’ symptoms often experienced with integrated FTP applications like this. The standard edition is only $29.95 and in my opinion, well worth the price.
Updates in 4.5
Over the past few years, Deerfield has added all the features you could want in an FTP client but the new 4.5 release further enhances the product with some subtle tweaking.
  • Default FTP Client for email, web, etc.  Works with direct file links and directory links.
  • Pro Version: Clipboard FTP:// URL monitor
  • Pro Version: HotCopy: can parse   ftp://uid:pass@domain.com links and log in appropriatly
